How FamilyFactor works
FamilyFactor is a 0–100 score we calculate for every property — based on six categories that capture what actually matters when traveling with kids.

The Sources
How we collect the data.
Every property is scored against the same documented rules — roughly 25 structured signals (kids' club, waterpark, connecting rooms, pool gates, adult-only zones, all-inclusive pricing, and more) mapped to the six categories above, so two properties with the same amenities get the same score. Sources for those signals:
- 01Direct property data — official website, amenity lists, room configurations, brand standards
- 02OTA listings and aggregate guest ratings (Hotels.com, Expedia, Booking.com)
- 03Brand standards documentation for chains (e.g. Four Seasons Kids For All Seasons curriculum)
- 04Editorial review and refinement of every score and write-up before publication — we do not aggregate or republish guest review text
Editorial Independence
Commissions never affect the score.
We earn affiliate commissions when readers book through our links. Those commissions are never considered when calculating FamilyFactor. Properties cannot pay for placement or for higher scores.
