The honest review

Copenhagen is widely considered the most family-friendly capital city in Europe — bike-first infrastructure, world-class children's museums, Tivoli Gardens (the original inspiration for Disneyland), and LEGO's heritage city. Hotel d'Angleterre's address on Kongens Nytorv (the central square that Danes cross daily) puts all of this within walking distance.

Tivoli Gardens is the anchor for families with children 4–12: the world's second-oldest amusement park (after Bakken, also in Denmark) has a distinct aesthetic — wooden roller coasters, flower gardens, pantomime theatre, nightly fireworks — that is specifically not a theme park in the American sense. For children raised on Disney or Universal, Tivoli's slower pace and aesthetic distinctiveness is either disappointing (if the expectation is coasters and characters) or exceptional (if the expectation is a beautiful park with genuine rides in a European setting). Set expectations accurately.

The LEGO flagship store is on Kongens Nytorv. The day trip to Legoland Billund (2 hours by car or direct train from Copenhagen Central) is the organized family day trip most children specifically request from Denmark; the d'Angleterre can coordinate this. The Little Mermaid bronze sculpture (the cultural icon that draws the most tourists) is 15 minutes by bicycle — rent from the hotel concierge.

For families with design-aware teenagers, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (45 minutes, one of the best in Europe) and the Copenhagen street food scene at Paper Island add sophistication. Copenhagen rewards the family that engages with Danish culture rather than using it as a backdrop.
