Finca Cortesín occupies a position on the Costa del Sol that most beach resorts cannot match: 215 acres of Andalusian hillside terrain between the coast and the Casares mountains, 25km west of Marbella, which means the resort has genuine countryside setting rather than the strip-hotel geometry of Puerto Banús or the marina resort adjacency of Sotogrande.

For families, the three-pool configuration is the practical organizational principle: main pool (family use, animated by the social life of the property), dedicated family pool (shallow area, waterslide, kids' programming zone), adults-only pool (spa-adjacent, where the parental recovery happens). The La Casita kids' club operates full-day programming for ages 4–12, giving parents access to the 6,000 square meter spa — one of Spain's largest and most comprehensive — without the scheduling problem.

The golf course is ranked consistently among Spain's top 10 and hosts European Tour events; for golf-playing parents, the ability to play a properly ranked course while the children are in kids' club is a significant consideration in the resort's appeal to multi-day family stays.
