The honest review

Rixos Premium Dubrovnik is positioned on a rocky headland about 4km west of the Old City walls, far enough from the cruise-ship crowds but close enough for an evening visit via the resort's shuttle. The location matters: Dubrovnik's Old Town is genuinely one of the world's most impressive walled cities for a family day trip, and being able to access it easily without staying in the city's expensive and logistically awkward historic center is one of Rixos's practical advantages.

The family infrastructure here is among the most complete of any Adriatic resort. The Rixy Kids Club spans infants through teens with purpose-built facilities: the Baby Club handles ages 0–3 with trained childcare staff; the main Kids Club runs structured full-day programming from ages 3–12 with a mix of beach games, crafts, and water activities; a dedicated teen zone provides the independence that 13–17-year-olds need without leaving them without programming. This is not a resort that has bolted family amenities onto an adult property — the children's programming is core infrastructure.

The beach is pebble rather than sand — standard for this stretch of Dalmatian coast, and not a dealbreaker, but worth noting for families traveling with toddlers who expect sand castles. The water clarity is exceptional. The aquapark slides (seasonal) and watersports center handle the high-energy demand that the pebble beach can't satisfy.

The all-inclusive option changes the economics for larger families. Paying for four meals per day à la carte in Dubrovnik's increasingly expensive restaurant scene makes the all-inclusive rate look more reasonable. Rixos runs a credible dining program across multiple outlets — above average for an all-inclusive — which removes the "eating the same buffet every night" grind.
