The combination of volcanic drama (Etna erupts in minor ash events several times yearly, visible from the pool terrace with appropriate safety distance) and ancient history is unlike any hotel view in Italy.

For families doing Sicily, Taormina is the natural base: Etna day trips (organized from the hotel, suitable for children 10+), the Alcantara Gorge (river trek in volcanic rock formations, 30 minutes), the coastal towns of Catania and Syracuse (both under 1 hour), and the Greek valley at Agrigento (2 hours).
