The honest review
Argentario Resort sits on the Monte Argentario peninsula — a rocky headland connected to the Maremma coast by two narrow sandbars — and the setting is as close to unspoiled Tuscany-by-the-sea as a luxury property can manage. The promontory itself is protected from the overdevelopment that hit the Costa Smeralda, so the views from the infinity pool look out over pine-covered hills dropping to a blue Tyrrhenian channel rather than a marina full of mega-yachts.
For families, the structure works because it offers enough independent activities that different age groups can genuinely separate. The 18-hole Argentario Golf Club is a serious course that occupies older kids and adults; the Junior Club handles ages 4–12 with morning-to-afternoon programming. The private beach access — via a resort shuttle to the long sandy strip of La Feniglia — is the highlight for younger children, a calm, gentle-entry beach that is meaningfully safer than the rocky coves elsewhere on the peninsula.
The limitation is scale. This is a boutique property, not a Majorca mega-resort, so the kids' programming doesn't run to the structured all-day depth you'd get at Pine Cliffs or a Club Med. Families with toddlers or those who need full-day childcare should factor that in. But for families with elementary-age to teen kids who want a beautiful base to explore Maremma — day trips to Pitigliano, the thermal baths at Saturnia, the hilltowns of Sorano — and return to a genuinely elegant pool and restaurant, Argentario is the right call.
Book shoulder season (May–June, September) when rates are more reasonable and the golf course isn't fully booked. August is peak, crowded, and expensive — manageable, but not the best version of this resort.
