The honest review
Hallmark Resort Cannon Beach is the kind of place that doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's a mid-range independent resort in a genuinely lovely beach town, and the FamilyFactor breakdown reflects that honest positioning: kid amenities and rooms are solid at 72, location hits 74, and safety clears 74. For elementary and tween families, that's a workable formula. You're getting a property that understands families book here, not one retrofitted to include them.
The real tradeoff shows up in parent recovery (69). This isn't a "grand-kids-in-camp-while-you-spa" situation. You're not paying luxury prices, so don't expect luxury buffer. That said, pricing itself scores 69—reasonable for the Oregon coast in season, but you'll want to look at availability and rates carefully before assuming it's a steal. It's mid-market positioned fairly.
Location is the strongest play here. Cannon Beach itself is the draw: dramatic rock formations, accessible beaches, a walkable town with restaurants and galleries. If you're coming for the destination and not banking on the resort to entertain everyone for three days straight, you'll get more out of this. Multi-gen trips especially work well because there's enough for tweens and adults to do outside the rooms. Just know that when you come back tired, the resort isn't going to absorb everyone into separate programming—you're managing the crew yourself.
