The honest review

The Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Suites occupies a tower on Coronado Drive a short walk from the Gulf, and its defining feature is deceptively practical: every single one of its 286 rooms has at least a kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, and cooktop, and the larger suites have full kitchens with dishwashers. For families staying more than two or three nights, this changes the economics of the trip considerably. Breakfast in the room, lunches assembled from a grocery run, snacks on hand at all hours — the nightly rate looks different when you subtract four restaurant meals a day from the mental budget.

The 8th-floor pool is purpose-built for families. There is a waterslide, a shallow children's section, and poolside cabana rentals. The layout keeps younger kids relatively contained without walling them off entirely. One floor further up, the 16th-floor Sky Terrace is a hot tub and sun deck with views of the Gulf that extends in both directions — a genuine adult recovery zone once the kids have exhausted the pool level. The split across two floors works well for multi-generational trips or parents who want to trade off.

Room fit is the standout. A two-bedroom suite includes two full bathrooms, a full kitchen, a living area with sleeper sofa, and separate bedrooms — a configuration that makes a week-long stay workable rather than claustrophobic. Families report that the rooms genuinely accommodate four to six people without friction, which is rarer than it should be for a property that markets itself to families.

The beach is a short walk rather than direct access, which is the property's main tradeoff versus Sandpearl. There is no private beach, no on-the-sand lounge chair service, and no dedicated beach area that feels like an extension of the resort. Clearwater Beach itself is right there and easy to reach, but families who want seamless sand-to-pool transitions will feel the gap. The Camp Hyatt kids' club has been listed as temporarily unavailable in recent periods, so families should confirm its current status before booking if that program is a deciding factor.

For World of Hyatt members, the property is a useful points redemption, particularly in shoulder season when rack rates are reasonable. On-site dining at Ruth's Chris and Wicked Cantina covers the evenings when cooking feels like too much, and the overall vibe is polished-but-not-precious — a resort that accommodates strollers and sandy feet without drama.
