The honest review

Three Seasons is one of those properties that families discover and then return to for years. It's a condo complex near the base area of Crested Butte Mountain Resort — not ski-in/ski-out, but close enough that the free shuttle covers the gap without much friction. What it offers instead of slope access is space, genuine home comforts, and a shared amenities package that punches well above its price point.

Every unit is built like a hotel suite with a proper residential kitchen rather than a kitchenette: full refrigerator, stove, oven, and the full equipment set for cooking actual meals. For families spending a week on the mountain, this is not a minor detail — it means breakfast and lunch happen at the condo at a fraction of restaurant cost, and snacks and dietary preferences stop being a logistics problem. The wood-burning fireplace in each unit is the thing guests mention most in reviews: after a cold ski day, there's something specifically satisfying about getting a fire going while kids strip out of ski gear. Each unit also has a private balcony, which adds breathing room that hotel rooms almost never provide.

The shared indoor pool is the centerpiece of the common space. It sits inside a large atrium — think actual natural light through a glass ceiling — which makes it feel far less institutional than a typical hotel pool. Two indoor hot tubs are tucked into the same space, so the pool-to-hot-tub loop for kids is self-contained and warm even in January. A dry sauna rounds out the wellness amenities. The game room on the ground floor handles the inevitable mountain storm days: billiards, ping pong, and foosball give kids somewhere to expend energy without requiring adult supervision for every minute.

The free shuttle runs to both the ski area base and to historic downtown Crested Butte, which means access to both the mountain and the town's restaurants and shops without moving a car. In summer, the same shuttle loop opens up the town's trails, farmer's market, and wildflower access.

Booking works differently here than a standard hotel — units are individually owned and managed through local property management companies like Crested Butte Lodging and Mountain Vacation Lodging, or listed on VRBO directly. This means rates and condition vary by unit, and you'll want to read individual listing reviews rather than aggregate hotel scores. The upside is real pricing flexibility: a two-bedroom unit sleeping six commonly runs less per night than a single hotel suite elsewhere on the mountain. For groups of two families or extended family trips, a three-bedroom unit here is often the most economical and most comfortable option available in the area.
