The honest review
Margaritaville Resort Orlando is a purpose-built family-friendly property situated on US-192 in Kissimmee, less than two miles from the Disney Springs area and easily accessible to all four Disney parks plus Universal. The location is genuinely convenient — closer to Disney than many of the official Disney hotel partners at a fraction of the price premium.
The property operates on a split personality that actually works for families: there's a conventional hotel tower with standard rooms and suites for guests who want that straightforward experience, and a separate cottage village where two- and three-bedroom units have full kitchens, living rooms, and private plunge pools. The cottages are the better family option at nearly every size — the ability to do breakfast in the cottage, pack lunches, and avoid restaurant prices for every meal adds up to real savings over a week-long trip.
The pool complex, centered on what the resort calls St. Cloud, is legitimately good: a lazy river, water slides, a splash pad for younger kids, and a zero-entry section. On a day between park visits, this is enough water activity to keep most children occupied without leaving the property. The Heroes Hideaway indoor water park is a separate paid admission, which is a reasonable add-on for a rainy-day contingency but doesn't feel essential.
The Margaritaville branding leans into a relaxed beach-bar aesthetic — live music, Jimmy Buffett vibes, casual restaurants. Parents who want a low-key drink by the pool while kids play in the shallow end will find the environment well-suited. The resort doesn't feel like it's straining to be Disney-adjacent; it's doing its own thing in a complementary way.
Potential downsides: the resort can get crowded during peak Disney season, the shuttle to Disney is not always included in base rates, and the cottage village section requires walking or using internal transport to reach the pool complex. Verify exactly what's included in your rate before booking, particularly around park shuttles and Heroes Hideaway access.
