The honest review

Okemo Trailside Condos is a well-established slopeside condo community sitting directly on Okemo's Sachem trail in Ludlow, Vermont. Units are individually owned and professionally managed through Vacasa, which means availability, condition, and specific amenities vary unit by unit — but the overall complex delivers something resort hotels at this price point simply cannot: genuine multi-bedroom space for families traveling with multiple children or multiple generations.

The defining feature is the ski access. The Sachem trail runs directly past the complex, and well-equipped skiers with kids old enough to navigate a groomed blue run can clip in at the condo door and ski to the lift without a shuttle or a car. The caveat that frequent guests note is worth stating clearly: when the Sachem lift is closed or the trail is ungroomed, ski-in access gets complicated, particularly for beginner skiers. Skiing out is consistently easier than skiing in. Families with early beginners should factor this in.

Inside, the units feel more like a home than a hotel. Full kitchens — not just a microwave and mini-fridge — mean real meal prep is possible, which matters considerably for families trying to manage a ski week without eating every meal at resort prices. Most units have a fireplace, washer/dryer, and enough living room space for the family to actually spread out in the evening. Larger three- and four-bedroom units have comfortably housed families of six and seven based on guest reports.

The community amenities are a genuine bonus: an outdoor pool (seasonal, typically open in summer months and sometimes shoulder seasons), tennis courts, and a ping-pong table give kids something to do when they are off the mountain. Select units feature a private hot tub on the deck and an in-unit sauna — a real draw for parents after a full day of skiing.

Pricing is generally more competitive than slopeside hotel rooms when you account for sleeping capacity. A three-bedroom unit that sleeps six or seven at $400–$600 per night compares favorably to booking three separate hotel rooms. Vacasa's professional management means the booking and check-in process is straightforward, and cleanliness reviews are consistently positive. For the cost-conscious family who wants true slopeside access and residential-scale space, Okemo Trailside Condos remain one of the best-value options at the mountain.
