Kitty Hawk sits between the busier Kill Devil Hills/Nags Head corridor and the quieter northern beaches, and this Hilton Garden Inn is one of the few true hotel options directly on the Atlantic in that stretch. For families who don't want to navigate the vacation-rental booking process that dominates Outer Banks lodging, it's a straightforward alternative: standard Hilton service, a restaurant on site, and a heated indoor pool that works even on a cold or windy shoulder-season trip — something the outdoor-pool-only rental cottages can't offer.

The amenity mix leans genuinely family-friendly for a limited-service hotel: both an indoor and a seasonal outdoor pool, a large hot tub, a games room, an outdoor fire pit, and complimentary access to the historic Kitty Hawk Pier for families who want to try fishing without a boat. The on-site restaurant serving a dedicated kids' menu removes one logistical headache that's common at OBX rental houses with no nearby dining.

The honest tradeoff is room size and space.
