The honest review

Panama City Beach has an image problem for family travel: the Hwy 98 corridor is famous for spring break activity, and the dense high-rise condo strip doesn't project 'quiet family resort.' Sheraton Bay Point addresses this by sitting on the Grand Lagoon side, set back from the Gulf strip in a quieter location that feels like a proper resort campus rather than a party hotel.

The two-pool setup, marina, and adjacent golf course give families more structure than the average PCB high-rise. Kayaking and paddleboarding from the marina gives kids on-water activity that doesn't require driving anywhere. The shuttle to the Gulf beach (available in season) solves the one thing the bay-side location doesn't automatically provide: access to PCB's actual white-sand beaches, which are among the best in Florida.

Room categories are solid Marriott-standard — nothing surprising, consistent quality. Suites accommodate families of four or five comfortably. The on-site restaurant is a real restaurant, not a pool bar masquerading as dinner.

For families comparing Sheraton Bay Point to the Gulf-front PCB high-rises: you trade direct beach frontage for a quieter environment and better resort infrastructure. The shuttle compensates for most beach-access needs. For families with younger kids who want a pool-anchored resort experience without the Hwy 98 noise, the Sheraton is the better pick.
