The dramatic way into the cave: walking down through the actual natural entrance, descending 750 feet on steep switchbacks instead of taking the elevator. For older kids who can handle a real descent, it's a far more memorable entrance than stepping out of an elevator.
Watch out: Genuinely steep with a lot of stairs; not stroller accessible and rough on anyone with knee or heart issues. Many families take the elevator down and only do this walk as the exit, or skip it with kids under about 7.

Watch out: Reservation required in advance, not a walk-up option, and involves stairs and moderate walking. Group sizes are limited so it books out in busier seasons.
