Watch out: Sections have real exposure with unfenced drop-offs; it's not appropriate for young kids or anyone uneasy with heights. Parking at the trailhead is limited and fills early.

A genuinely easy way to cool off after a day of hiking. Zion Tubing, about 15-20 minutes west of Springdale in the town of Virgin, handles tubes, life jackets, and shuttles both ways, so there's no gear or logistics to figure out yourself.
Watch out: This outfitter is outside Springdale itself, in Virgin, so factor in the short drive. The Springdale-based Zion Outfitter no longer rents tubes for the river; don't plan around that shop for this activity. Water is cold even in summer since it's snowmelt-fed, and float length varies with the season's water level.
