The honest review
Bellawood Resort is the kind of place families return to year after year. Located directly on Greers Ferry Lake at 179 Lakeshore Drive in Greers Ferry, it offers a small collection of cabins that range from cozy two-bedroom units to larger three-bedroom options — all of them with the resort's standout feature: a private slip at the covered boat dock.
For families who come to Greers Ferry to be on the water — and that is most of them — this is a significant practical advantage. You do not have to haul the boat to a ramp every morning or pay launch fees. If you rent one of the resort's own boats or the party barge, the marina logistics are handled on-site. Families with their own watercraft can store it at the slip for the duration of their stay. The lake is just steps away, and Devils Fork Park, which has one of the nicest swimming beaches and picnic areas on the lake, is less than a mile down the road.
The cabins themselves are comfortable and well-suited to families. Fully equipped kitchens keep the grocery bill manageable — a big deal when you're feeding kids three meals a day on vacation. Screened porches on several cabins are a genuine pleasure on summer evenings when the temperature drops and the fireflies come out. Satellite TV handles rainy days or early bedtimes. The cabins vary in age; some of the legacy units have a more rustic character, while newer additions are more polished. Either way, the setting overshadows any interior shortcomings.
The on-site store and guide service add practical value for fishing-oriented families. Greers Ferry Lake has a strong reputation for striper and largemouth bass fishing, and having a local guide available on-site means you do not have to search Yelp for someone reliable. The store carries basic supplies and some fishing gear, which reduces the number of runs to Heber Springs.
What Bellawood lacks, compared to a full-service resort, is any structured programming for kids — there is no pool, no playground, no organized activities. Families who want a resort experience with amenities waiting for them should look at Club Wyndham or Red Apple Inn instead. But for families whose ideal vacation involves casting a line in the morning, tubing in the afternoon, grilling on the porch in the evening, and watching the stars over the lake before bed, Bellawood Resort is close to ideal. The pricing is honest for what you get, and the direct-on-the-water location is genuinely hard to replicate at this price point in Arkansas.
