The honest review

Hyatt Centric Key West occupies a quieter stretch of Old Town, slightly removed from the Duval Street noise while still being walkable to the main attractions. The Gulf-side positioning means the pool and restaurant face the water, and the sunset views are genuinely impressive — this is one of the nicer perches in Key West for the famous evening light shows.

For families, the property skews adult in its programming (the spa is a real draw for parents of older kids), but the pool is pleasant and the location is well-served by the walking-distance concentration of Key West's best attractions. Families with tweens and teens who can do a city-exploration style vacation — finding the good restaurants, doing the aquarium and the Hemingway Home, booking sunset sails through the concierge — will find this a comfortable, calm base.

The property is boutique-sized, which means limited room categories and a smaller pool than mainland beach resorts. Room fit is solid for couples and small families but less suited to large groups or multi-room needs.

For multi-generational trips where grandparents want a nice spa and sunset cocktails while parents take kids to the aquarium, Hyatt Centric hits a sweet spot. For families whose primary trip driver is kid-specific amenities (waterparks, kids clubs, beach programming), the limited family infrastructure makes this a secondary option behind Southernmost Beach.
