Alhonna is the lake's longest-running family-owned resort and its largest — the kind of classic lake camp families return to for decades, and the real-life inspiration for the resort in the TV show Ozark. Lodging runs from motel rooms and studios up to four-bedroom units sleeping 10, with full kitchens in every non-motel unit, so large families and multi-gen groups can actually stay in one place and cook.

The amenity set is the most family-complete of the cabin resorts: three pools including a dedicated toddler pool, a sandy beach on a calm cove, two swim docks, and an enclosed fishing dock with wood stoves for cold days. Boat slips cover families bringing or renting a boat, lakeside fire pits handle the evenings, and there is poolside live music most weekends in season. The Blue Cat Lounge serving three meals a day in season makes it the closest thing to a lake camp that still has a restaurant.

The honest trade-off: motel units are basic, and finishes vary — book a remodeled cabin or condo unit if that matters to you. This is also a lively, kid-heavy place in summer, not a quiet adults' escape, and parent recovery scores reflect that.
