The honest review
Enchantment Resort's canyon location is genuinely unique in the US resort landscape. Boynton Canyon is a sacred Yavapai-Apache site, and the resort sits inside the canyon walls with views of the ancient cliff dwellings from the property. The six pools, the casita accommodations spread across the canyon floor, and the world-class Mii Amo spa create an immersive environment that's almost completely sealed off from the outside world.
But the honest family assessment: Enchantment is designed as an adult sanctuary, and the FamilyFactor score reflects that honestly. The kids' program (Kids for All Seasons) runs in limited form and isn't the reason anyone books this property. There's no waterpark, no beach, no kids' menu culture — the restaurants are fine-dining oriented. A 4-year-old at Enchantment will be bored; a 15-year-old who hikes can have an excellent experience.
The property makes the list because there's a legitimate multi-gen family use case: grandparents and parents who want a bucket-list resort experience, teenagers who can hike Boynton Canyon and the adjacent trails, and an annual trip framework that's worth the extraordinary cost. For that specific trip, Enchantment delivers something no other Arizona property can match.
For families with younger kids, Hilton Sedona at Bell Rock is the more appropriate choice. For multi-gen trips where the adult experience is primary and the teenagers are along for what may become a defining travel memory, Enchantment is worth understanding.
